Zambia Voice Executive Director Chilufya Tayali says after having campaigned for President Edgar Lungu, he must now give him a job.
Tayali who despite being a leader of None Governmental Organisation where he is expected to be none partisan made it clear that he was supporting President Lungu.
He has admitted that he compromised his position as Zambia Voice Executive Director a lot by his partisan stance and has since announced that he will be quiting.
Tayali has openly declared that he needs a job in government and has indicated that he would want to be given a job at Ministry of Home Affairs so he can help fight corruption.
This is contained in his posting below on his Facebook page;
MY DESIRES FOR APPOINTMENT FROM PRESIDENT LUNGU
This might be the last article I am writing till Saturday 24th September, 2016. I am sure you would all agree that, I need to take time to reflect and pray after the marathon of the political campaigns, elections and the Concourt issues.
Like I have said earlier, the last election meant a lot for most of us and it is sad that so many people lived in fear due to the promised vengeance by the UPND.
That fear made most of us go flat-out to fight from President Lungu than never before. The battle was fierce.
However, on principle, I, personally recognise that I compromised my position at The Zambian Voice and I must do the right thing – resign so that a more neutral person can come in.
The issue is what I am I going to do next? This is a question I will try to answer during my retreat When I come back I will have something which I will share as I officially leave The Zambian Voice.
Of course the issue of Govt appointment is on my mind, as well as other options which I have to weigh. The most important for me is to DO THE WILL OF GOD.
As you know, appointments are a prerogative of the President and I think it is wrong to hold the President to ransom, since we campaigned for him (and I say that from the bottom of my heart), he must give us jobs.
At the same time, I can pretend that I am not interested, because, who does not want a prestigious job in Govt.
Naturally we all want a good life which come from the job and privileges we have. Even those who laugh at us that we are job seekers, do want the same jobs including HH and GBM this is why they almost slept at Concourt.
However, it is important to realise that, we should not just seek jobs for the benefits they offer, rather we should think about serving then get paid.
But how can you serve if you do not have capacity in the job that you have been given. I don’t want to get a job for the sake of a good pay. I want to serve.
One would rush in thinking of me at Ministry of Community and social Development, I think otherwise. I want to fight corruption.
The poverty we have in this Country is, not due to lack of resources, but mostly due to the selfishness of those in-charge. Therefore, I would be happy to be placed in a position where I can help fight corruption and crime – Home Affairs.
President Lungu will leave a powerful legacy if he can launch a vicious fight against corruption. And I am ready to help my brother Kampyongo do that on behalf of the President and the Zambian people.
This is not to say, I am an angel or I can finish corruption and crime, but we can fight to reduce it.
It is not a secret that the people we vote in power, including some parastatol heads, get liberated from poverty while the electorates continue suffering. And i hope President Lungu would want to make a difference.
You are poor, you promise people a better life, five years later you are rich while those who voted for you are still poor or worse, this is a bigger scandal than the ones of adultery which we make a fussy about.
Anyway, you never apply for appointments to certain position but for me, this is my prayer and I have no shame about it.
Of course I would not mind going to look after vulnerable at Community Development or better still be an advisers to the President so that I can tell him the truth because mostly Presidents are vulnerable to lies. Some people don’t tell President realities.
Ministry of Information is good to work in but I may overemphasize the freedom of expression and later on I may be fired.
I freely discuss my wishes because I don’t want to be thrown where I can’t perform, otherwise I would rather fight corruption outside Govt with my cartel members.
Going to the UK is fancy but only if, I am convinced that I will really serve the Zambian people and not going on holiday.
I know, this has never happened, where someone expresses his desires and wishes on appointment which he has not even been told that he is being considered, because people are scared of spoiling their chances. Well, I believe that what God has given you, it will surely come otherwise it was not meant for you.
In the meantime, I have to go, I will talk to you when I am back probably on Friday. I am going to reflect and pray. I will also take time to clear my inbox, email, whatsup and phone Texts, so expect my responses when I am back.
I will also call for a meeting for those who will takeover The Zambian Voice before I finally resign to something else.
But be sure that this page will always be there unless I die, except what I will be writing might change, I may not have to talk about Tasila anymore since she will be in my house.
I thank you for your support and interaction. You have become part of my family. I love you and please pray for me as well. I only want to do the Will of God, in selflessness, openness, humility to the Glory of God.
Remember the Christian principle of “Seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness” (Matthew 6:33).
