President Edgar Lungu now says he will only appoint Ministers from the regions / provinces that gave him Members of Parliament.
Speaking in New York when he addressed Zambians living in the US, President Lungu said those regions who didn’t vote for him have to learn to blend with the rest of the country.
Addressing thanks giving rally at Woodlands stadium, President Lungu promised that he was going to appoint a cabinet that represents all regions even those who did not vote for him.
President Lungu had said he would go headhunting so that he comes up with a cabinet that represents his One Zambia, One Nation slogan. He even promised to visit the famous Dundumwezi constituency in Southern province which gave 235 votes against UPND Hakainde Hichilema’s 30,000 votes.
Last week after being sworn in, President Lungu appointed eight members who are part of his cabinet. Of the eight, six who have been given key Ministries come from Northern and Luapula provinces. The other two are from Eastern and North Western provinces.
President Lungu is expected to finalise his appointments when he returns from New York where he is attending the United Nations General Assembly.
