The venue for the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations qualification match between Congo and Zambia has been changed from Alphonse Massemba-Débat Stadium to Kintele Stadium, the Federation Congolaise de Football (Fecofoot) announced on Saturday.
Fecofoot Secretary General Badji Mombo told Lee Kawanu, the Faz Leader of Delegation, that the change of venue had taken place due to security concerns at the Alphonse Massamba-Débat Stadium.
“We have informed the Match Commssioner that the game cannot be played at the Alphonse Massamba-Débat Stadium for security reasons. That is the only reason we have moved the match to the Kintele Stadium in the north of Brazzaville,” said Mombo.
The 80,000 capacity Kintele Stadium, located in the northern part of Brazzaville, is bigger than the Alphonse Massamba-Débat which has a capacity of about 20,000.
