The Examination Council of Zambia may have given politicians something to think about by saying they will not hesitate to handover to the law enforcement agencies whoever produces fake results during the verification exercise.
According to the amended constitution aspirants for parliamentary election must hold a grade 12 certificate with passes in five subjects that should include a credit in English.
ECZ Director Michael Chilala said it would be embarrassing for well known politicians without the requisite certificate to push in forged documents.
“Imagine a well known person even nationally handing in fake documents and we hand them to the police. It can be very embarrassing to them and their family so we advise them to comply with the requirement,” he said.
The verification exercise for grade 12 certificates for aspiring parliamentary candidates will commence today.
