There will be no power loadshed on Christmas and New Year, Energy Minister Dora Siliya has announced.
And Siliya says her Ministry will in 2016 strive to reduce the electricity power deficit in the country.
Siliya says she was pleased that the first unit of Itezhi tezhi was successfully commissioned on Thursday.
“During this festive season we will not loadshed customers on Christmas day, new year’s eve and new year’s day,” Siliya said.
The Minster said Investment in hydro and solar remain a priority as her government continue to pray for good rains.
“We will also strive to have consistent supply of fuel to avoid disruption to economic activities, ” she said.
Siliya observed that Climate change is a reality. She said her Ministry will review it’s Master Plan to accelerate water harvesting and better manage water bodies.
She wished Zambians a merry Christmas and wished them a happy new year.
