Zambia has been plunged into darkness after there was an abrupt power failure supply from ZESCO this evening.
Only Livingstone in Southern province and some parts of Western province have power as they get the supply from Victoria falls power station.
Minister of Energy Dora Siliya has also confirmed the power failure adding that it is not yet clear what could have caused the problem.
“I wish to confirm that all parts of the country are off electricity power supply except for Southern and Western provinces supplied by Victoria falls station,” Siliya said. “The cause at the moment is unknown but it implies a fault at Kariba and kafue which supply the provinces affected.”
She has promised to update the country as soon as she has the information.
Two weeks ago the country experienced the same problem after the two power stations at Kafue Gorge and Kariba had a fault during importation of power.
