Matero Member of Parliament Males Sampa has resigned from his Deputy Ministerial position.
Sampa who served as Deputy Minister of Commerce Trade and Industry has since informed President Edgar Lungu of his decision in a letter below availed to Zambian Eye.
He becomes second Member of Parliament to resign from government after Davis Mwila who resigned as Deputy Minister of Defence during President Sata’s reign.
Sampa stood as a presidential candidate when Sata died. He was seen as the main challenger to President Edgar Lungu. He is the nephew to Sata. His resignation comes a day after the first memorial of President Sata’s death.
Recently a source close to government and the ruling party told Zambian Eye that a breakaway before 2016 elections was looming in PF.
The Ministers and senior party officials are planning to push Matero Parliamentarian Miles Sampa to break away and form a parallel PF party before next year’s elections, a source said.
