Lusaka High Court Judge Nicola-Sharpe Phiri has just signed a consent order allowing the United Party for National Development (UPND) to go ahead and hold a rally at Kitwe’s Freedom Park on Tuesday, August 9th 2016.
This is in matter where the UPND challenged Police decision to cancel their at last minuted citing security concerns.
The consent Judgment simply means the court has ordered the police not to interfere or cancel the opposition party’s cadres rally. It is only the court which can now overturn the ruling.
Therefore the UPND is expected to go on with the rally.
Earlier UPND leader and his running mate where scheduled to address a press briefing emancipating from the cancelled rally.
President Edgar Lungu is also expected to address a last campaign rally in Kitwe on Wednesday before taking the final stopover in what is seen as a mega rally in Lusaka.
