Chawama has gathered in thousands for the opposition United Party for National Development (UPND) presidential candidate Hakainde Hichilema.
Hichilema who is the main challenger to incumbent president Edgar Lungu in next month’s election is addressing a rally on the grounds of Kuku, a shanty township in Chawama.
President Lungu hails from Chawama. He was Member of Parliament for Chawama before he ascended to the republican presidency in December 2015.
Hichilema or HH as he is commonly known had been stopped from having rally here due to what the Police said security concerns. This did not go well as the UPND Cadres ignored the police order. The clashed with the police and one of the UPND Cadres was shoot dead.
