Former President Rupiah Banda and Movement for Multi-Party Democracy (MMD) leader Nevers Mumba have today resolved their differences  marked by a public affirmation by President Banda of Dr. Mumba’s right to lead the former ruling party.

The reconciliation talks, which collapsed a few months ago, were re-started and continued by the appointed mediators, Evangelical Fellowship of Zambia (EFZ) chairman  Reverand Pukuta Mwanza, Northmead Assemblies of God overseer Bishop Joshua Banda  and a new addition in the person of Father Charles Chilinda of the Roman Catholic Church and were convened at the EFZ premises this morning

Commenting on this positive development, Dr. Mumba said the MMD is “one big family” which stands ready to make a contribution to the governance  of the country. He said, going forward,  the party will ensure that a deliberate path is created  to ensure that all aggrieved members who wish to return and make a contribution to the MMD and its leadership are amicably brought on board.

The MMD leadership has made a commitment to any further discussions as need arises all in an effort to ensure that the reconciliation brokered today is firmly cemented.
