HH at a media briefing
Opposition UPND President, Hakainde Hichilema has today revealed the inside data of how the ruling party, Patriotic Front, plans to rig the 11 August 2016 elections at a packed press briefing held at Chainama Hotel in Lusaka..
“They have planned to deliver ballot papers in the UPND strong holds – Lusaka, Copperbelt, Southern after 12hours on day of voting. Secondly, there will be so many deliberate mistakes on the voter details so that our people won’t be able to vote,” he said at Chainama Hotel during a press briefing that welcomed PF, NAREP, Rainbow members and Councillors.
“We will not allow them do that, this is not playing game.Si masobela iyai, is it their mother’s company?” he asked.
President Hakainde has also reconfirmed that President Lungu won’t be jailed.
“We will not arrest Lungu, we will give him safe passage. I know thats what Vice President Geoffrey Bwalya Mwamba warned, no, we won’t arrst him, we want to come show them how to run government,” he said.
Five PF Councillors from Luangwa Constituency joined the UPND. Luanshya, Mafinga PF leadership came on board today. Others came from Muchinga in Northern Province.
Hakainde has blamed President Lungu for the riots experienced in Lusaka compounds.
“Lungu issued careless statements and soon after peeople reacted, he cause xenophobic attacks. There is bad leadership, UPND will resolve the problems. People are very hungry and angry because government has failed to deal with rising prices of mealie meal.”
Hakainde said whilst government had delpoyed soldiers in Zambian compounds, there is nothing being done to exposed Zambians living abroad.
He has taken a swipe at the Electoral Commission of Zambia. “The South African printer, who were cheaper, were responsive to the ECZ tender as they had met specicifcations. They have the experience. RIght now the PF cadres are pleading with Dubai printers. They should know that this is not a game. If anything goes wrong, you will be the ones to be blamed.”
