Kalomo Central Member of Parliament Request Muntanga has lost in the UPND ward primaries of the adoption for the 2016 elections.
Muntanga who also serves as UPND Mobilisation National Chairman lost to Smart Muwele by three votes during the wards election on Thursday.
Muwele got 81 votes while Muntanga closely followed him by 78 votes, On third slot is Harry Kamboni with 49 votes and Siakachoma with five votes.
Others are Siafwa who managed three votes while Hamakando got zero.
The first three names will now be submitted to the constituency, district then province and finally the national management committee.
Muntanga has been a member of Parliament since 2001 and his defeat sends a signal to many UPND MPs who have served their seats for three terms.
During his reign Muntanga embarked on a vigorous developmental projects to rehabilitate schools, health centres and supported women’s clubs.
