Chief Government Spokesman Chishimba Kambwili has charged that he is feeling ashamed that he once worked with a person who is politically foolish like Dr Guy Scott.
“I am going to issue this statement with a heavy heart in that I hold Dr Guy Scott in very high esteem because of where we have come from in the formation of the Patriotic Front.
Dr Scott suffered to put PF where it is. It is so surprising that the same Dr Scott who built PF for and on behalf of the poor can today lose his integrity and do things for and on behalf of the so-called cartel.
I am sorry to state that Dr Scott has no mind of his own; he has no free mind, he’s controlled by this cartel,” he alleged. “I am revealing this today with a very heavy heart. I never wanted to talk about this but I think Dr Scott has lost direction, he has lost his integrity and it is obvious that he’s controlled by this cartel.
Dr Scott must be ashamed of himself, no wonder Mr [Michael] Sata used to tell Dr Guy Scott in Bemba, Uyu umusungu akana ukuba umusungu nga chipuba (Had he not been white, he would have been a fool]; ask anybody from PF, they will tell you. Ask the previous Chief Justice Lombe Chibesakunda, some of us used to feel bad but today we have proved what president Michael Sata used to say. For me I appeal to Dr Guy Scott to leave politics because he has no integrity.”
Kambwili said Dr Scott’s endorsement of UPND leader Hakainde Hichilema for the 2016 elections showed that he was a frustrated leader. He claimed that Dr Scott had turned down two ministerial appointments from President Edgar Lungu.
“A leader who cannot fight frustration and goes even to eat with the devil for the purpose of covering up the frustration is a useless leader. I feel so ashamed that I was associated with a man like Guy Scott. Dr Guy Scott is politically useless because he has no mind of his own.
When President Lungu won, he approached him and offered him a position of Minister of Commerce, today he’s complaining that Margaret Mwanakatwe has been brought into government,” said Kambwili. “Dr Scott never came back to President Lungu after consulting, that’s why she was appointed.
After eight months, we created five ministries and I took it upon myself to make things work between Dr Scott and President Lungu. When the Ministry of National Planning and Development was created, I told President Lungu ‘we need to be a united force, we need Dr Scott’; he (President Lungu) agreed and assigned me and the secretary general of the party to speak to Dr Scott, he refused the position.”
