There was dramma over the weekend in Monze’s Chikuni village after the 250 UPND Members who were paraded as defectors to PF refused to raise the PF symbol and preferred a UPND one leaving Defence Minister Richwell Siamunene confused.

For the past one week, Hon Siamunene had been pleading with Chikuni residents to defect to PF and resorted to giving them money so that they can fake defections in the presence of Given Lubinda and ZNBC cameras.

The residents accepted to be paraded in exchange for K100 each  on condition that they they remained UPND.

But after money was paid to them the paraded UPND Members refused to raise the PF symbol and opted to raise the UPND symbol causing a historic embarrassment to the man holding the third highest office on the land after that of the VIce President and Republican President. Mr Siamunene then instructed ZNBC cameramen to stop filming the event as he corrected the situation.

But disappointing enough, when he thought he had succeeded in convincing them, the residents dressed in PF campaign regalia repeated the same and chanted UPND slogans forcing one ZNBC camera man to redirect his camera at Given Lubinda who also failed to comprehend the situation.

It was for the first time to see carders dressed in PF regalia publicly raising the UPND symbol in defiance.

And Mr Siamunene who is also Defence Minister said President Edgar Lungu is the only presidential contender capable of providing sound and visionary leadership to the country.

Mr Siamunene said the PF Government has brought unprecedented levels of development in Sinazongwe and urged people in the area to rally behind the leadership of President Lungu.

He urged people in Southern province to emulate him and support President Lungu’s administration.

And Agriculture minister Given Luibinda is disappointed that Monze UPND MP Jack Mwimbu has failed to deliver development to the people.

Mr Lubinda alleged that the opposition MP has lamentably failed to take development to the area.

Mr Siamunene, Given Lubinda and Greyford Monde left the venue completely astonished and vowed never to return. Hon Given Lubinda and Greyford Monde then  blamed their counterpart Richwell Siamunene for the fracas saying ‘he would have dished out the money (K100 each) after the paraded fake defectors followed what they wanted’.
