A group of Marketeers in Luanshya district have expressed disappointment in the manner Roan Constituency Member of Parliament Chishimba Kambwili is conducting himself, following a recording that has gone viral in which he is heard advising Presidential Empowerment Loans coordinator Chanda Kabwe to stop the exercise if government has no money.
Kambwili, in the recording, warns Kabwe, who is also Kitwe District Commissioner (DC), that promising marketeers loans when the state has no money would decampaign the ruling Patriotic Front (PF) in the forthcoming elections.
But some marketeers in the district are incensed that Kambwili, who is also Information Minister, is discussing matters that do not concern him and making the ruling party unpopular in the process.
The Group leader who chose to remain anonymous, says marketeers are still hopeful that government will give them loans and it is therefore wrong for Kambwili to hijack the process with negative statements.
“These loans… they wrote down our names and we were told to wait but the reports we are getting from Mr Chishimba Kambwili that governments has no money to give us loans are disturbing,” the marketeer charged. “We paid K 15 registration fees, they should pay us back, because we have been hopeful that government will give us the loans”
He said President Edgar Lungu has shown that he is a good leader and wants to empower people, further warning that the conduct of Kambwili will cost the President in this year’s elections.
“Others have been given why would it be a problem for us in Luanshya? just because Mr Kambwili has said there is no money? Its very sad.
“The sentiments coming from Mr Kambwili are de-campaigning the PF. Ourselves..we are hopeful that government will give us the loans, so why is he talking about it?” he questioned.
