oydcHandball Coach Likemore Mahunje, says twelve teams will participate during this Saturday’s Samsung Youth Sport Challenge league scheduled to take place at the Olympic Youth Development Centre.

Mahunje says preparations are almost done ahead of the under-15 youth league.

He says teams have been drawn from Lusaka, namely: Lusaka Tigers, Northmead Primary and Secondary Schools, Kasisi, Meanwood, Msisi Stars, Lilanda, St Patricks, CCAP, Debros, Titandizane and Kamwala.

He appealed to residents from surrounding communities to be part of the event by turning out in numbers to support the competing teams. The games are scheduled to run from at 09:00 to 15:00 hours.

He added that the league will motivate youth who have plans of becoming national team athletes in future.

The Samsung Youth Sport Challenge was introduced in 2011 at the Olympic Youth Development Centre with a view to providing opportunities for child participation in sport.

Since inception, the Challenge has yielded positive results with athletes graduating to youth and senior national teams from the various sports.
