FILE: President Lungu greets Chief Chitimukulu

The Bemba Royal Establishment (BRE) has accused President Edgar Lungu and the PF Government of sowing seeds of division in Bembaland.

And Paramount Chief Chitimukulu Kanyanta Manga II has revealed that he stayed away from the N’cwala traditional ceremony of the Ngoni people after learning that the president would grace the event.

He accused President Lungu of continuing his predecessor Michael Sata’s legacy of bringing disunity among the Bemba-speaking people of Northern and Muchinga provinces.

Meanwhile, the Bemba Royal Establishment has appointed Peter Mumbi as chief Mumpolokoso of Mporokoso district.

The Bemba Royal Establishment said the decision to dethrone Albert Mumbi as Chief Mumpolokoso is final adding that his elder brother Peter Mumbi has been appointed to take up the chiefdom.

The decision was arrived at during the Ilamfya Bemba Council meeting held at Chitimukulu’s palace yesterday, attended by Bemba chiefs from Muchinga and Northern Province.

And The Chitimukulu has bemoaned the fact that efforts by the Bemba Royal Establishment to have Albert Mumbi’s recognition as chief Mumporokoso withdrawn by the government has proved futile.

Meanwhile, Sub Chief Chimba who is also Chairman of the Bemba Royal Establishment called for unity among the chiefs in the Bembaland.

Chimba said chiefs should not only be interested in money but should endeavor at all cost to respect and defend the Mwinelubemba.
