The Police in Lusaka are moving in to re-arrest opposition UPND Vice president Geoffrey Bwalya Mwamba.
By 8pm Thursday some police officers were seen around GBM’s resident in Lusaka.
Sources within the Police told Zambian Eye that Mwamba will be arrested tonight for violating the bail conditions. The source says Mwamba’s address to his supporters after his release on Wednesday have prompted the police to re-arrest him.
Earlier, Patriotic Front (PF) Deputy Spokesperson Frank Bwalya reported Mwamba to the Police for threatening President Edgar Lungu on Wednesday.
Addressing Supporters after his release, Mwamba accused President Lungu of persecuting him and threatened that he will revenge.
Speaking shortly after reporting the matter at Lusaka Central Police Station Thursday morning, Bwalya said Mwamba’s threat on President Lungu has gripped the PF with fear.
He said the Police have cooperated and have assured to open an inquiry on the matter and investigate to determine what offense Mwamba may have committed following his statement yesterday.
