Government has disclosed that it will be spending 18.2 million US dollars per month to buy electricity from Turkey to reduce on the power deficit.
Energy Minister Dora Siliya says this follows arrangements to import 200 megawatts from Turkey through Mozambique starting in January next year.
Speaking this morning in Solwezi when she met the business community, Siliya said it is inevitable to import power to avoid the total collapse of the economy.
And Siliya said that she will soon meet with the authorities in Mozambique to negotiate for another importation of 150 megawatts.
