National Planning and Development Minister Lucky Mulusa says President Edgar Lungu is committed to changing the face of Zambia through massive infrastructure development.
The minister said this Sunday, when he inspected Bweengwa school in Monze district of Southern Province, constructed under President Lungu’s initiative, at a cost of over 1.4 million kwacha.
Mulusa says the construction of a school in Bweengwa is a milestone in attaining decent education standards, adding that President Lungu has proved to be walking the talk, indicating that the school that he promised the community of Bweengwa has been completed within a period of four months.
He adds that President Lungu is happy with the project, promising that the Head of State will physically visit Bweengwa to hand over the school to the community.
Mulusa also lauded President Lungu for appointing him minister of Planning and Development, adding that the head of state was preparing him for the huge task ahead, when he first appointed him as state House Special Assistant for Project Monitoring and Implementation.
The minister has since reaffirmed governmemnt’s commitment to delivering the much needed development in the country.
And Southern Province Minister Edify Hamukale has hailed President Edgar Lungu for taking up the initiative to construct classroom blocks in Bweengwa.
Dr Hamukale says the new classrooms will add value to the school, adding that a lot of children will be encouraged to learn in a conducive environment.
The minister echoes that the added classroom blocks will play a critical role in the upgrading of Bweengwa to a secondary school.
Dr Hamukale says this would help the local community, stating that there is no high school between Bweengwa and Niko.
He has since implored the community of Bweengwa to guard the new building jealously.
And Bweengwa Ward Councillor Ackson Soko says the school will play a pivotal role in promoting education in the area.
The councillor says it is encouraging that President Lungu blessed the community of Bweengwa with a school.
He adds that people of Bweengwa are looking forward to benefiting more from government’s projects.
During his recent visit to Bweengwa, Lungu promised to construct modern classrooms in the area, the pronouncement he has since accomplished by erecting classrooms worth more that 1.4 million kwacha.
