Opposition United Party for National Development ( UPND ) leader Hakainde Hichilema has urged party provincial heads to start preparing for the parliamentary by-elections.

Addressing UPND provincial Heads from 10 provinces on Friday, Hichilema said the party needs to be ready for the forthcoming elections that have been caused by election petition nullifications.

The High Court has nullified the following Parliamentary seats: Munali, Lusaka Central, Nalolo, Sioma and Itezhi-tezhi.

Hichilema also updated the leaders from the provinces on the presidential election petition which is before the High Court and assured them that he is determined to push the matter even to International Courts.

He said his rights ro movements and that of his members are being violated by the Edgar Lungu regime which he described as dictatorial and oppressive. He urged the members not to relent but continue fighting saying it gets “dark before dawn”.

Hichilema who was accompanied by UPND National Chairperson Mutale Nalumango also discussed the August elections and shared ideas on the party mobilisation and reorganisation activities to be undertaken going forward.

He informed the team that some party officials and supporters were still in detention and had been denied bail. He appealed to the party leaders to change the gears and press even harder and reclaim rights of citizens so that people can once more be liberated politically, socially, and economically.

Hichilema said UPND is a formadible party and that leaders should not let down the people of Zambia as it is their only hope for a prosperous country.
