The Parliamentary Committee on Sports has implored the Anti Corruption Commission (ACC) and the Drug Enforcement Commission (DEC) to urgently investigate allegations of financial impropriety that have resurfaced at Football House.
Recently, Kelvin Mutafu resigned as FAZ treasurer days after alleging that the association was corrupt adding that Zambia lost the Nike kit deal because of alleged fraud.
Mutafu also charged that there was a syndicate of ticket sales after the association allegedly blocked Vane Technologies and Shoprite from doing computerised tickets for the association.
In an interview, Parliamentary Committee on Sports chairperson Elijah Muchima charged that FAZ was rotten.
“Anti Corruption Commission and the Drug Enforcement Commission must probe FAZ and tell us the truth. There must not be sacred cows in the fight against corruption,” Muchima said.
“FAZ is not transparent, it is completely rotten. We want to know how tax payer’s money which goes into FAZ is spent,” the Ikelenge Member of Parliament alleged.
“FAZ are using public resources hence they must be open as public funds must be accounted for. They must be transparent and we want to see how transparent they are.”
Earlier this week, Transparency International Zambia (TIZ) has called on the Anti Corruption Commission (ACC) to urgently investigate the allegations that have been raised about financial impropriety at Football Association of Zambia (FAZ).
