fb_img_1476177212219 President Edgar Lungu has sent a message of condolences to singer Angela Nyirenda following the untimely death of her son Khuzwayo Sakala.

Khuzwayo, 15, died yesterday at the Universal Teaching Hospital (UTH) after a short illness. He is the second child Angela has lost, after her two months old son died from a congenital heart complication three years ago.

“My deepest condolences to Angela Nyirenda on her loss . May your beautiful memories sustain and bring comfort to you during this difficult season,” President Lungu wrote on his Facebook page.

“Accept my deepest sympathies and be sure that our prayers as a nation  are with you during this time. May the memories of Khuzwayo and the love of your family surround you and give you strength and peace in the days ahead. May His Soul Rest in Eternal Peace.”

And the Zambian social media scene has erupted with messages expressing shock, grifef and solidarity over the death of the teen whose name was popularised by the hit song ‘Khuzwayo’. In the song released 12 years ago, Angela sings about her love for her son.

Young African Leaders Initiative (YALI) governance advisor Isaac Mwanza wrote:

“The boy whose name became poplar because of mother was never shy to reaffirm her love is no more.

RIP Khuzwayo. Your mom really loved you to heart and she was proud of u!

My deep condolences to Angela Nyirenda for such a loss my dear sister. There is nothing as painful as losing a loved one. We know Khuzwayo wenzomukunda but no man has control over another’s life.

May God comfort u much moremore.”

PF official Sunday Chanda wrote:

“My deepest condolences to Zambia’s songbird Angela Nyirenda on the untimely and painful death of her son Khuzwayo.

Some of us heard of Khuzwayo in that song specially done for him by his mother.

This will not be easy for Angela and we ask God’s comfort through this difficult season.

RIP Khuzwayo.”

“I mourn with you my Sister Angela. Kids we love and adore. Losing them is shattering. No word can comfort you. Go well our nephew. Go well Khuzwayo.”
