Opposition United Party for National Development (UPND) Manyinga constituency  Member of Parliament Bernard Lehifu has called on his fellow UPND parliamentarians  to work with government to foster development in their various constituencies.

Lihefu whose party UPND has refused to accept the legitimacy of President Edgar Lungu as duly elected President is seemily shifting his position from his party’s initial stance on working with the government.

Lihefu said the people in opposition constituencies are expecting parliamentarians to deliver meaningful development and this will be possible if opposition MPs work with the government.

In the last session, UPND expelled some of its parliamentians like Greyford Monde and Richwell Siamunene for accepting Ministerial portfolios from the PF led government.

But Lihefu said failing to work with government will defeat the reason people elected the MPs as their representatives as it will be difficult for development to trickle down to the people.

Lihefu who together with other 57 UPND MPs stayed away from Governmental ceremonial opening of the National Assembly claiming that UPND does not recognise Lungu as the President of  Zambia.

Lihefu said he wants government to improve feeder roads in farming blocks in order to will enhance agricultural activities in constituency and he seeks to work with today’s government to bring development to Manyinga constituency.
