Maz Radio tower blown off

A heavy wind experienced in many parts of Zambia early hours of Monday damaged many properties.

In Mazabuka, Vanson Choomba reports that the adverse effect of October 3rd wind blew at everything standing on its way, nothing was spared. He says even the MAZ tower was affected resulting in the local Radio station MAZ FM 100.9’s temporary going off air.

maz-radio-tower-blow-off-1The wind that pounded houses cleaned every fruits from trees and left others standing for over an hour on Sunday brought down Mazabuka Radio transmission tower.

This is the disaster that needs agent help from well wishers having it back may cost about K30, 000, appeals the Management at the radio station.

The Radio station has since been off air and may be so for sometime if no well wishers comes to it’s aide.

Mazabuka is nicknamed the “sweetest town in Zambia” as it is the home of Zambia’s sugar. It lies about 124 km and 2 hours’ drive South-west of Lusaka with the 2010 population estimated at 261,268 (Central Statistical Office, 2011).
