Lusaka Clergy Bishop Simon Chihana has pleaded with the Judges at the Constitutional Court to revisit it’s decision and hear the presidential election petition brought by Hakainde Hichilema against the reelection of Edgar Lungu.
The Constitutional Court dismissed the presidential election petition before hearing after the lapse of the 14 days constitution window.
But Bishop Chihana says the act is injustice and has pleaded that the case be revisited so that the Petitioners can be given an opportunity to prove how their election victory was stolen.
Bishop Chihana said this in a statement to Zambian Eye below Thursday morning:
Injustice is injustice, whether exercised and fulfilled by those in power, it is still injustice to the fullest.
Even if we paint injustice with white colours, it is still dark colour inside and we fully know we have behaved in a very unfair manner and when earth opens up to swallow our bodies, we shall surely go with a self condemned conscious and whatever we got on earth as monetary gain in exchange for the rights and freedoms of people shall pass away also, but how shall we stand before the Lord God Almighty who is the just judge of all the creation.
It is with this heavy burden that we on the Electoral Commission of Zambia (ECZ) and the judges sitting in the Constitutional Court to revist their acts of lawlessness and unfairness done to those aggrieved over the fraudulent results of the elections followed by the petition on the same.
Sometimes the injustice of parents towards other people is revisited on the innocent children just as much as one who does good to others, his being good is remembered to the next generation.
Having said that, we still want to persuade the Constitutional Court judges to reconsider their position and imagine if they were the ones denied an opportunity to be HEARD, an opportunity in this case to prove indeed if the votes of the petitioners were stolen.
We believe that if a person has lost his property and has caught up with the person who has stolen his property, it is always in the interest of both the courts of law and the person who goods were stolen and have just been recovered to prove to the honorable courts that they are his goods and he is the bona-fide owner of the same.
Without justice in the land, the evil men and women take advantage of the peaceful, innocent, honest and good people. Without justice in the land, there is totally no security for the just, without justice in the land, the law maker is a laughable wing of governance, the law enforcers are dilusioned in their patrols and arrests, and the judiciary is a mockery of the people.
So what can we say then to all this, injustice is still injustice whether it is done by the Pastors, Judiciary, Parliament, Police or the Executive.
