The United Party for National Development has won a local goverment seat in Chingola’s Lulamba ward.

The election petition tribunal for the Lulamba ward on Monday September 19, 2016 ruled in favour of the UPND candidate Temwane Banda and declared him as the duly elected councillor, reversing the earlier declaration by the Returning Officer who had declared the PF candidate as the winner.

This was after Banda petitioned the results and the tribunal hearing ordered a verification and recount of the results that later showed that the Electoral Commission of Zambia  had declared wrong results

There has been hundreds of local goverment and parliamentary petition’s across Zambia.

UPND had earlier petitioned the Presidential election but the matter was thrown out on preliminary stage despite the case having the most legal minds in the country.

The constitutional court had a hard time explaining and interpretating the constitution as many twists and turns kept on coming in.

Analysts and laywers had earlier said if the case would have been heard, ultimately there would have been some shocking evidence as opposition were not served with Gen 12 forms which records the final results at a polling stations.
