Nawakwi confers with President Lungu while Vice president Inonge Wina looks on. Nawakwi is leader of FDD
FDD leader Edith Nawakwi says she is ready to offer advice to President Edgar Lungu on various issues affecting the nation.
Speaking in an interview shortly after the inauguration of President Edgar Lungu and his vice, Inonge Wina in Lusaka yesterday, Nawakwi said she is willing to offer assistance on poverty eradication, decentralization and uniting the country.
Nawakwi has however clarified that she will always remain in opposition and that her going to state house or any Government institution is only meant to help Government on various issues.
And the opposition Zambians for Empowerment and Development has described as progressive President Edgar Lungu’s inauguration address to the nation.
ZED President Fred Mtesa told Hot FM News that President Lungu’s speech has spelt out the direction the country needs to take after the just ended elections.
Dr. Mtesa said his party is happy that the presidential address to the nation emphasizes on oneness which is critical for national development.
Meanwhile, the Zambia Society for Public Administration (ZSPA) has welcomed President Edgar Lungu’s announcement to declare Kafue as a steel and iron economic zone and has urged the head of state to consider declaring Kabwe as an educational town and Solwezi as a mining town.
And ZSPA President Kelvin Esiasa has backed calls by the president to invest in the country as local investors saying this calls for hard work by the president and his cabinet to ensure that a conducive business environment is created to encourage local investment.
Esiasa has also urged cadres in the country to embrace opposition party members further urging President Lungu to embrace everyone including the people that did not vote for him in last month’s elections.
