President Lungu taking oath
President-elect Edgar Lungu and his running mate Inonge Wina have just been sworn at a colourful event.
President Lungu and Vice president Wina took oath before Chief Justice Ireen Mambilima at 11 am, Tuesday, September 13, 2016 before 60, 000 Zambians who witnessed the event.
The event is being witnessed by Zimbabwe’s president Robert Mugabe, and his Botswana courterpart General Seretse Khama Ian Khama.
The Chinese government has sent the Vice Chairman of Chinese Peoples Political Consultative Conference – CPPCC while Malawi, Tanzania, Kenya, Namibia and Swaziland are represented by their Vice Presidents.
The two former presidents of Zambia, Kenneth Kaunda and Rupiah Banda are also in attendance.
The main opposition, UPND leadership is not at the event while the FDD, NAREP are represented by their presidents.
