Kabwata Member of Parliament Given Lubinda says he has been harassed by Cadres from UPND in Livingstone.
Lubinda says he is in the Tourist capital on holiday but says the UPND Cadres trailed his Vehicle harassing him and ordered him leave town. Lubinda who served as Agriculture Minister in the previous government says he found the stance taken by the UPND unacceptable.
The Kabwata Member of Parliament says the Cadres asked him what he was doing in Livingstone and accused him of having been part of the people who rigged elections for Edgar Lungu.
Lubinda says apparently he had learnt that Hakainde Hichilema had told Muvi Television on Friday that he (Lubinda) was in Livingstone to bribe the people.
“How can I come to buy people when elections are over?” he asked.
But the UPND denied ordering Lubinda to leave Livingstone though the party leadership in the city says it won’t allow the former Minister to drive unregistered vehicle.
“We challenge Mr Lubinda to provide evidence that the UPND has ordered him to leave Livingstone. But we shall not allow him to drive around a vehicle that is not registered,” said UPND Livingstone District Spokesperson Neto Halwabala.
Halwabala alleged that Lubinda’s visit to Livingstone was not for the purpose of the holiday. He alleged that Lubinda whom he says removed his Vehicle Registration number when he entered Livingstone has been going to the council seeking that he be allowed to be where the results were being verified.
He said the UPND Youths picked this information and that is how they confronted him and he failed to explain his visit.
Tension in Zambia has remained high following a disputed election last week that saw Edgar Lungu reelected.
