Over 20 police officers have been retired in what the PF government has called in national interest for allegedly allowing UPND president to campaign on the Copperbelt and other areas.
Our Correspondent in Lusaka has been told that the PF has allegedly put cadres in police uniforms to spy on the officers who could have a soft spot for the opposition.
President Lungu is not worried about Pastor Mumba and Ms. Nawakwi but he is dead scared of Mr Hakainde his closest opponent who trailed him in the January elections and beat him by 2 percent, a source told our correspondent.
A senior police officer of Lusaka suffered a demotion recently due to open support for HH and despising the leadership of Mr Lungu when he was head speaking on their official radios.
The said officer is among those who have been fired or have been retired.
The fear is also that there might be growing open support for the opposition leader HH from the civil service and men and women in uniform.
The more such unfairness on civil servants and the police may occur is the more it attract strife in service of our men and women in uniform, a reliable senior officer briefed Zambian Eye.
The more than 20 police officers whose jobs are terminated are from copperbelt,
Lusaka and Luapula provinces and we expect more because even permanent secretaries and directors have suffered the same because they are deemed as great sympathisers of the opposition.
