GBM addressing a rally in Milenge district of Luapula province

The PF government has ordered UPND vice-president and presidential running mate Geoffrey Mwamba to leave Luapula Province at once or his chopper will be grounded.

This is because President Edgar Lungu will be in the area and government believes the province is not big enough for the two leaders to be in at the same time.

Mwamba, commonly known as GBM confirmed the development this morning in a statement posted on his Facebook page.

Good morning Countrymen and women,

We are leaving Luapula now. We recieved an order that we leave or else our chopper will once more be grounded.

We have been informed that President Lungu will be here so we can’t all be in one province, yet we were granted landing rights…

Thank you so much for your wonderful support; Mambilima, Mwense, Chifunabuli, Milenge…#ZambiaForward

GBM has had a rough time during his latest tour of the northern circuit, with State security wings doing everything in their power to derail his campaigns.

On Saturday, armed police stormed Radio Mano, a Kasama-based private radio station in a bid to stop a live program featuring the former Kasama lawmaker. GBM was however not on the premises as the program was being aired via outside broadcasting.

According to police deputy commissioner, Lizzie Machina, the radio station was not supposed to host the opposition leader because President Edgar Lungu is in the province.
