Zambia has made great progress in promoting exclusive breast feeding, becoming the sixth highest in the world at over seventy-two percent.
This is according to the 2016 Global Nutrition Report, launched in London.
The 2016 Global Nutrition Report however, says forty percent of children under the age of five are stunted, a situation which often results in permanent damage to children’s cognitive development.
The report further states that only an estimated Zero Point One Four percent of government spending in Zambia is allocated to nutrition despite forty percent of children under the age of five being stunted.
The 2016 Global Nutrition Report also says 44 percent of countries are now experiencing very serious levels of both under nutrition and obesity.
